Jetman loops around the Breitling Orbiter

Yves Rossy, known as the Jetman records another first by leaping from the Breitling Orbiter 3 replica balloon at 10,000ft and then flying a series of aerobatic maneouvres around the balloon.

A great deal of fun mixed with a good amount of adrenalin was had when I was asked by Breitling to go to Switzerland in order to fly with Yves Rossy, the Jetman.

The plan was to get some promotional film and photographs of Yves putting on a spectacular show around the hot air replica of the Breitling Orbiter 3 balloon.

The size of the Jetman wing and the fact that it has four jet engines attached to it meant that Yves could not travel inside the balloon basket, so we had to rig a platform attached to the basket that was strong enough to take his weight and for him to jump from.   It also had to withstand some high temperature jet exhaust when the jets were fired up prior to jumping.
